The Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, proudly inaugurated the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) Student Chapter in the esteemed presence of Padma Shri Prof. G. D. Yadav, Prof. B. S. Murthy (Director, IITH), Dr. Altaf Hussain (Chairman, IIChE Hyderabad Regional Chapter), and Prof. Chandra Shekhar Sharma (Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, IITH).
Prof. G. D. Yadav delivered an inspiring address, stating that “God is a Chemical Engineer — everything in nature follows the laws of chemical engineering,” highlighting the discipline’s universal relevance.
Prof. B. S. Murthy encouraged students to “innovate fearlessly,” emphasizing the role of creativity and research in building a Viksit Bharat.
Dr. Altaf Hussain drew attention to “the growing gap between the engineers required and those available,” urging students to rise to meet this challenge.
Prof. Chandra Shekhar Sharma applauded the initiative, motivating students to leverage the IIChE platform for learning, collaboration, and societal contribution.
The inauguration marks a new chapter of innovation, professional growth, and community engagement for IITH’s budding chemical engineers.
